William J. Hayden

William J. Hayden, 88, of Youngwood, died Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Oak Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Greensburg. He was born April 27, 1935, in Greensburg, a son of the late L.D. and Agnes (Logan) Hayden. Prior to retirement, he had been a sales representative for McCormick-Schilling. Bill was a member of Word of Life Church, Greensburg. He was a life member of the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Truck Co. No. 2. Bill was also a member of the PA State Firemen’s Association, the Westmoreland County Firemen’s Association, Masonic Lodge Marion Lodge No. 562, and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 435. He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Coleman (Mel), and Amy H. Medved (Steve); four grandchildren who he loved and was so proud of, Chad Medved (Erica), Abbey Medved, Conor Coleman, and Jillian Coleman; his brother, John T. Hayden, Sr.; his sister Joann Miller (Thomas); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 PM Sunday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM Monday in the funeral home with Mr. Terry Timko officiating. Private interment will be in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. The Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a service at 4 PM Sunday in the funeral home. The family would like to thank Bridges Hospice and Oak Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, especially nurse practitioner Brenda Toth, who provided excellent care for over a year and treated Bill like her own father. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Truck Co. No. 2, or Bridges Hospice.
