William J. Manges, 87, of New Paris, died on Saturday, July 10, 2021.

Bill was born on November 19,

1933 near Shanksville, son of Elvin and Velma (Robb) Manges.

Bill is survived by his wife, Shelva Jean (Heidorn) whom he married 65 years ago on June 30, 1956 at

the Holsinger Church of the Brethren. Also surviving are children Randall (Lisa), Lynn (Elizabeth), and

Sandra Sipes (Jeffrey), sister Patricia Berkebile and brother Elvin Manges, Jr. Grandchildren are

Angela Harbaugh, Tressa Hillegass, Torie Sipes, Will Manges and John Manges. There are 6 great

grandchildren.

After serving in Korea from 1952-54, Bill drove truck for a variety of local companies, most recently Kelly-

Springfield and Smith Transport. He was also a skilled heavy equipment operator, and could figure out

how to repair just about anything. He loved people and enjoyed conversation with everyone. Bill was a

member of the Dunnings Creek Church of the Brethren.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13 at the Dunnings Creek

Church of the Brethren, 195 Church Road, New Paris. The funeral will take place at the church on

Wednesday, July 14 at 11:00, with visitation at 10:00, with Pastor Vaughn Loose officiating. A graveside service with military rites provided by

Fort Bedford Honor Guard will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Bedford County Memorial Park, 4426 US-220

Business Route, Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to a favorite charity or church.
