William L. Hina, Jr.
August 16, 1957 - October 8, 2022 (Age 65)
William “Bill” L. Hina Jr., 65, of Zanesville passed on to his home in paradise on October 8, 2022.
He was born August 16, 1957, in Zanesville to William Lester Hina Sr. and Barbara Roberts Hina Power. Bill was an ornery jokester from the start; just ask his siblings!
Anyone who knew Bill knew he had a heart of gold. He gave selflessly, never wanting or needing recognition. He was kind, sarcastic, jovial, and never missed an opportunity to give you his two cents (especially over politics). Always the best-looking man in the room, he earned respect for being the guy who would always give you the shirt off his back and instantly forget and forgive. He was a fun-loving person who always found humor in everything.
Bill was a former employee of Ohio Periodical, but early in life was taught the art of flooring by his Uncle Virgil. This led to a side business that quickly became his full-time career as owner and operator of Bill Hina Floor Covering. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing & hosting karaoke, spending time with his family and friends, Mt. Dew, and attending as many events as he could that involved his children and grandchildren. He was recognized by many nicknames, including Da Bill, (an inside joke with his buddy Dave, aka Da Vid), Mr. Bill, Papaw Bill, The Carpet Man, and to his children, Master Blaster.
In addition to his best girl & mother, he will be greatly missed by his fiancée of 22 years, Sharon Williams; son Jacob (Taisha) Hina; daughter Sara (Scott) Haren; grandchildren, Parker, Jasper "Jazzy", and Vayda Hina; bonus children Stacy (Dave) Baugh, Heidi (Brad) Gearhart, Brad (Laura) Williams and Renee (Danny) Niven and eleven bonus grandchildren; sister Dixie (Dave) Duemmel and brother Brian (Kelly) Hina; several nieces and nephews, special friends Don & Lora Shepherd, many, many other friends and life-long friend and the mother of his children, Rise' Barlow.
In addition to his father, Bill was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clayton Power & his best friend, Gary Starkey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with funeral service directly to follow at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with his daughter, Sara, and Richard Gatten officiating. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to any charity of your choice. Cancer and stem cell research were near and dear to his heart.
The Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville is in charge of the arrangements.
