William Lewis Oates

Mr. William "Lil Lewis" Oates, son of Mr. A.V. Oates and the late Ella Mae Oates was born June 7, 1951 in Charlotte N.C.

He departed life on Wednesday August 24, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord, North Carolina.

Lewis was a very humble quiet sole did and loved everyone. He graduated from East Meck High School in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Oates worked, trained, and took care of horses for many years on various horse farms in NC and Georgia. In addition to his love of horses, Lewis also worked on chicken farms in Union County. He then loved passing time by watching WWE wrestling while drinking his coffee.

Lewis was preceded in death by his late mother Ella Mae Oates and sister-in-law Cynthia Oates.

He leaves to cherish his memories of one son David Short (Angie) of Waxhaw, NC; 6 brothers; Edward Oates (Debbie) of Florida; Eddie Oates (Cynthia) of Stallings NC, Johnny Oates ( Robinette) of Stallings NC; Perry Oates (Tammy) of Mint Hill, NC; Alfred Oates (Nicole) of Stallings NC and Rodney Caldwell of Matthews NC and 2 sisters; Ann Simpson (Larry) of Stallings NC and Mayella Oates of Stallings NC. He leaves 4 grandchildren David, Treonna, Randy Short & Nadia Oxendine that he loved and lived for; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that loved and cherished him.
