Mary E. Gross
October 26, 1925 - January 8, 2026 (Age 100)
Mary E. Gross, 100 of Monongahela , passed away on Thursday January 8, 2026 at the Mon Valley Care Center. Born October 26, 1925, in Donora, Mary was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Carmella (Natali) Guliano. Mary was a graduate of the former Donora High School and a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela and the former St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was active in their annual Festa and had belonged to their Altar Rosary Christian Mother Society. She was a former member of the Monongahela Women's Club and had also volunteered her time at the American Red Cross Blood Drive. Mary worked a few years at UMWA District 5 office in downtown Pittsburgh. She will always be remembered as mom, grandmother, sister or just a friend that when you visited her you better be hungry, whether a meal or just a pepperoni and salami sandwich, you were expected to eat.
Mary is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Ernest M. and Mary Ann Gross of San Diego, CA; and a daughter and two sons in laws Patty and John Vaccaro of Monongahela and Vince J. Bartolotta Jr. of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren Chris (Danette) Vaccaro, Jeff (Amy) Vaccaro, Vincent III (Rachel) Bartolotta, Bret (Lindsey) Bartolotta, Garrett (Carrie) Bartolotta, Nic (Jenna) Bartolotta and Chelsea Zeffiro, twelve great grandchildren, Adam, Alexa, Jason, Brenden and Karisa Vaccaro and Katie and Becca Bartolotta, Jack and Molly McGill, Macoy, Cooper and Jack Bartolotta.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Gross who passed away March 19, 2012, her daughter Judy Bartolotta who passed away May 6, 2025, a brother Michael Guliano and three sisters Michalena (Mickey) Nobili, Ida Guliano and Josephine (Jay) Delsandro.
Friends will be received at the Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, from 4-8pm on Monday January 19th. Blessing prayers will begin in the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:45am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30am that will be celebrated in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Donora Site with Fr. Levi Hartle as Celebrant. Entombment will follow in Mon-Valley Memorial Park, Donora. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at OSTPA Hospice and the Mon Valley Care Center for their caring and devoted service and also, a special friend Mary Francis Babich.
