Robert E. Sears

Robert E. Sears, 79, of Unity Township, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at his home. He was born March 7, 1931, in Kingston, a son of the late Major Oscar R. and Ruth E. (Fregans) Sears. Prior to retirement, he was a supervisor at Altell Telephone Company, Export. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Regina M. (Dougherty) Sears; five children, Robert E. Sears II and his wife, Eileen, of Ruffsdale, Thomas R. Sears, at home, Christopher Sears, of Greensburg, Carol Ritter, of Latrobe, and 1st Sgt. Scott Sears and his wife, Toni, of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Diana Blanish and her husband, Matt, Robert E. Sears III, Katie Sears, Scott Sears, Tiffany Street and her husband, Justin, and Christani Holt and her husband, JJ; four great-grandchildren, Cody and Amber Blanish, Brady and Kyson Holt; his sister, Suzanne Todd and her husband, Christopher, of Glen Lyon, Pa.; and a niece, Alison Goldman. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Excela Health Hospice, 134 Industrial Park Road, Suite 1600, Greensburg, PA 15601.
