Virgie R. Reed

Age 99 of North Versailles, formerly of Pitcairn, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Edgar L. Reed. Loving mother to Edgar D. Reed. Cherished grandmother to James A. (Lisa) Connelly, Jessica Schwartzmiller, and Robert Schwartzmiller. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, James Ross and Sarah Jane (Long) Steele; two daughters, Leona (surviving husband, Wayne) Schuletty and Joyce Schwartzmiller; granddaughter, Sarah Connelly; sister, Verna Morgan; and brothers, Blair, James, and Melvin Steele.

Betty was a long-time member of the Pitcairn Assembly of God. In her free time, she enjoyed working on all types of puzzles, especially jigsaw puzzles and crosswords as well as coloring in her adult coloring books. She was also talented at crocheting and enjoyed gifting her works to her family and friends. Betty adored her dog, Princess, who crossed the rainbow bridge in 2020.

Friends will be received Friday, January 2, 2025 from 2-8 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 118 Shaw Avenue, Turtle Creek. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
