Fred Edward Haley Sr. 74 of Charlotte, NC passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 with his loved ones by his side after a brief battle with cancer.
Fred was born January 17, 1948 to Rufus and Virginia Haley in Charlotte. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend to many and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His likes always included, Nascar races, wrestling, John Wayne, Elvis, movies, and spending time at the beach. He loved anything Patriotic with July 4th being one of his favorite holidays. He also loved Christmas, passing down traditions and remembrance to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Fred is survived by his children Deborah Spencer (David) of Lincolnton, NC, Machelle Hughes of Gastonia, NC, Fred E. Haley Jr. of Gastonia NC, six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his nieces, Nadia and Stephanie; his beloved and devoted best friend Danelle Lambert; and numerous other family and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Virle Equils; his grandson, Duncan Haley and his beloved cat Bunky.
Fred’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. A service honoring his life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 27, in the funeral home chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from noon until the time of service. Following the service, Fred will be taken to his final place of rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
