Freida M. Reid

Freda Reid, 99, of Matthews, died Thursday, July 29, 2021, at White Oak Manor in Charlotte.
Freda was born in St. Ann, Jamaica, on February 21, 1922, the daughter of Ivan Ennis and Mary Blissett. She grew up there and met Wilfred Reid, whom she went on to marry on January 8, 1947, and who preceded her in death. Freda came to the United States in 1960’s and took up residence in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, end eventually Queens Village. Freda went to work for Wyckoff Heights Medical Center as an EKG Technician. She retired from there and in 1984, she came down to Charlotte, North Carolina. When not working, she loved gardening, singing in her church choir at Pritchard Memorial, and volunteering at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews. Most of all, Freda loved the time spent with her family and friends.
Freda is survived by: her daughter, Pamella Green, of Concord, NC; her son Leslie Reid (Teresa) of Charlotte; her grandchildren: Iman Green Syler (Greg), Amara Green (Ryan Turner), Zuberi Reid, and AnMei Reid; her great grandchildren: Carter Syler, Chandler Turner, Lilly Turner and Memphis Turner; and her sisters: Edna Letang (Errol), Ethlyn Ennis, Rose Thomas (Roland). Freda is further survived by numerous other family and friends. In addition to her husband, Freda was preceded by her brothers, Leslie Ennis (Pearl), Vincent (Carole), and her sister Wilhelmina Ennis.
Freda’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. Graveside services are set for Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 10 AM, at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
