Mary Christine “Chris” Lantz, 90, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Peace Healthcare at Mountain City Center.
Born December 23, 1931 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Gerald Riley, Sr. and Viola (Allen) Riley.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe L. Lantz; son, Stephen L. Lantz; and siblings, Gerald Riley, Jr., and James Riley.
Mrs. Lantz was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, where she had belonged to the National Honor Society.
She had worked as a Dorm Mother at Frostburg State College, where she always enjoyed baking cookies and lending a hand to the college students. She had also worked for the Allegany County Public Schools as a Bus Aide, assisting children with disabilities.
Chris was a member of Springfield Assembly of God. She was also a member of McKinley Chapter #12, O.E.S.
Mrs. Lantz was a devout Christian that received Jesus as her Lord and Savior early in her marriage. She continued to serve him throughout her entire life and passed her faith to her children.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and loved her pets she had over the years. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Linda Jackson and husband Dan, and Dave Lantz; grandchildren, Matthew Cornwell and wife Whitney, Andrew Cornwell, and Dylan Lantz; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was blessed with the many caregivers she had until the end, especially her special caregivers, Carol and RayAnn.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from noon-1:00 PM.
A memorial service will follow in the funeral home at 1:00 PM.
