Patricia Jean “PJ” Swann, 78, of Mint Hill, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 peacefully at home.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 5:30 to 7:30PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 20, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel. Pastor Joey Rowell will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill.
Ms. Swann was born on February 9, 1944 in Gaston County to the late Columbus Booth and Nellie Sullivan Melvin. She obtained an Associate in Commercial Arts from Central Piedmont Community College, a Bachelor of Creative Arts from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Phi Theta Kappa,) as well as a North Carolina Real Estate Brokers License. In addition to these accomplishments, she was awarded a multitude of other certificates and recognitions.
The joy of PJ’s life was being a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved spending her time at the beach and creating works of art.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Edward Cox; second husband, Walter Lee Swann; and sister, Paula Leonard.
She is survived by her daughters: Teresa Craig (Frank) of Pageland, Lisa Cox of Matthews, Charlene Harvell (Jeff) of Oakboro and Tammy Greeson (Jim) of Concord; and a son, Lee Swann of Mint Hill; seven grandchildren: Justin Craig (Crystal,) Jennifer Craig, Adam Harvell, Chelsea Fertig (Brian,) Angela Harvell, Jessea Whitley (Daniel,) and Bailee Craig (Will;) three great grandchildren: Charlie Craig, and Walter and Patton Fertig; sisters: Martha Morrison (Hayward), Faye Edwards (AB) and Becky Jenkins; and brother Larry Melvin (Linda.)
PJ’s family would like to recognize the special care provided for her by Ellen Schaefer and Renee Bridges in her home.
