Anthony T. Detri
June 26, 1937 - August 24, 2023 (Age 86)
Anthony T. Detri, 86, beloved husband of the late Shelba J. (Mathias) Detri of Stowe, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA.
Born in Stowe, he was the son of the late Anthony J. Detri and the late Catherine (Knopp) Detri.
Tony was married for 61 years to the love of his life, Shelba, enjoying many wonderful times together at their home in Bethany Beach, DE. He was an avid golfer, skier, and saxophone player. He loved watching the Phillies and Eagles and hunting with his friends at the “Big 6” cabin. He was a founding member and baseball coach for the Stowe Youth Organization (SYO) and was active in West Pottsgrove Township for most of his life. Tony was an executive for Universal Machine Company, Stowe for forty-four years, retiring in 2002. He was a 1955 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Reading, PA.
Above all else, Tony valued his family. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was frequently found on the sidelines cheering them on during all of their numerous activities.
Tony is survived by two daughters, Lori, wife of James Kavle, Annapolis, MD; Lisa, wife of Jon Fenstermacher, San Diego, CA; and daughter-in-law Lisa (Bassett) Detri-LaViola of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark A. Detri, and a sister, Annetta Erb. He has 6 grandchildren Joseph, Stephen, Catherine, Porter, Connor, Arin, and four great-grandchildren, Blake, twins Cole and Greyson, and Amelia. He also cherished his devoted friend, Mary Kirlin. He will be forever loved and missed by all.
Tony was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of St. Gabriel’s Lodge, Stowe, Pottstown Elks Lodge #814, St. Marco Lodge, Reading, The Wheel Inn, Roaring Branch, and was a lifelong parishioner at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Stowe.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church, 127 E. Howard Street, Stowe. The burial will be in Highland Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, at 359 King St. in Pottstown, PA.
The services will be held at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother.
